The Island Of Romance
Just 22 miles off the Los Angeles/Long Beach coast many visitors often feel as if they are transported to a far-away paradise island, and I can see why. The charming town of Avalon is only one square mile in size but filled with quaint shops, colorful homes, delicious restaurants, clear blue waters and friendly faces. It’s amazing how much Catalina Island reminded me of Positano. I seriously felt like we were back on our honeymoon thousands of miles away!
We checked into Catalina Island Inn which was just a 7 minute walk from the express boat. Friendly staff with complimentary pastries and coffee in the mornings, can’t really complain.
This place is a must esp. during the Summer time. Think Miami beach vibes. Beach chairs, cabana’s, Dj’s, amazing food and drinks… need I say more?
Everything that represents Catalina Island is exhibited on the Casino tour. Extraordinary Art Deco murals, a classic 1929 pipe organ, Avalon theatre which shows nightly movies, and the world-famous Casino Ballroom. If you’re looking for some history, Art deco murals, and stunning views this tour is a must!
No trip is complete without an ice cream break. It’s not gelato but still delicious!
And that concludes day 1. We were pretty pooped after all our activities and keep dinner low key. Will continue on with day 2 in my next post. Stay tuned for more island adventures!
