Trader Joe’s Grocery List

Due to popular demand, I’ve created a new series on what I buy at the grocery store and my menus for the week!

Here’s a little background on our meal schedule:

I usually cook dinner 2-3x a week. For lunch, we’ll eat leftovers or sandwiches. John barely has time for lunch so it’s easier if I make something quick to eat in his office. I’m usually out or will make egg whites with turkey bacon for lunch!
And on weekends we go out to eat.

This Week’s Dinner Menu:

Monday- Korean Galbi with rice and kimchi
Tuesday- Thai Ground Chicken Basil
Thursday- Chicken Taco Bowls

shopping list

SNACKS:

I usually don’t go too heavy on snacks otherwise I’ll find myself eating chips all day…

-salmon jerky and chicken wraps (dog treats)
-veggie sticks for me ( I’m obsessed with these)

PROTEIN:

I always have in the fridge:

-eggs
-turkey bacon
-some kind of lunch meat (preferably organic)
-cheese
-ground chicken
– chicken breasts (usually in the freezer for emergencies)

CONDIMENTS:

This week I’m trying out some new things:

-General Tso Sauce
-Kimchi (I never buy kimchi from Tj’s but
I ran out and was too lazy to stop
by the Korean market plus I was
curious to see how this tastes)
– Salsa
– Zhoug Sauce (spicy green sauce, new to me!)
– Guacamole
– Black beans

FRUITS & VEGGIES:

-Spinach
– Romaine
– Bok choy (rare, but sometimes I do get some)
– Avocados
– Bananas
– Garlic
– Strawberries
– Jalapenos
– Basil (again, rare only because I need it for this week’s recipes)

FROZEN:

-Fries (something to satisfy when I’m feeling something salty)
– Mangos (for smoothies)
– Shrimp (I ALWAYS have shrimp in the freezer, so easy to whip up a dish with these)

Let me go into depth about these condiments real quick ‘cus I know so many people are afraid of trying new condiments at Tj’s but I swear they make life so much easier when cooking.

General Tso– add in some veggies and your choice of protein, heat it up in your skillet and you’ll have a meal in minutes
Kimchi– This can be tricky, but as a Korean- American, I can eat anything and everything with Kimchi.
Zhoug Sauce– Similar to the Peruvian spicy green sauce. Just grill up some chicken add a few tablespoons of the sauce on top with some brown rice and veggies and BOOM dinner is served!

Hope you guys enjoyed reading this post! Make sure to check back for recipes that I’m cooking this week.
